Dear folks,
Regarding the setting of run numbers for MC events
that came up in the meeting yesterday, I got an
insider tip from Nathan yesterday that
there used to be a variable RUNG that you could set
up in your hdgeant control.in file.
Currently if I specfiy this variable for example to 9150,
hdgeant will spit out the message
1************************************************************
* *
* G E A N T Version 3.2114 DATE/TIME 131031/0829 *
* *
* R U N 9150 *
* *
************************************************************
but this run number is *not* saved in the final hddm file.
Perhaps setting the run number within hdgeant is not
the most intuitive way to do things, and since this is
not saved in the output anyway, we should deprecate
this functionality.
For genr8, the run number can be specified with the option
-r (default 9000), and this seems to be propagated through
to the end and I see the RunNumber variable in the final
analysis tree is set correctly.
For bggen events, setting the variable RUNNO seems to
work, although this is not explicitly mentioned in the
sample run.ffr card. The default is set to 2 as was
noted yesterday. I've changed the sample run.ffr so
that people can take note of this option.
