Hi All,

For those interested in running HDGeant4 on OS X, I have managed to do this on OS X 10.11 (El Capitan).
I had to use the latest version of Geant 4 (10.03.p1). I made a branch containing the source called
“davidl_OSX”. Once you check it out, there will be a README.OSX file and a GNUmakefile.OSX that
should help you get it running.

https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/blob/davidl_OSX/README.OSX <https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/blob/davidl_OSX/README.OSX>

It is worth noting that a few changes to the HDGeant4 source were required to get this to compile and run.
I have notified Richard with details of all of these so he can merge them into the master at some point.
In the meantime, you can play with the branch.

One other thing of interest regarding this: I noticed it takes a couple of minutes to start processing events.
You can avoid this by setting GEOMOPT 0 in your control.in file. The downside is that you will take a 30-40%
hit in the processing rate. For me, this translated to a gain in time for less than about 26k bggen events,
but that is for my specific hardware running 8 threads.

Regards,
-David
