    HDGeant4 Meeting Notes, July 6, 2018

Present:

  * *FSU: * Sean Dobbs
  * *JLab: * Thomas Britton, Justin Stevens, Simon Taylor, Beni Zihlmann
  * *KDH: * Mark Ito (chair)
  * *UConn: * Richard Jones


      Goals

  * Thomas has not had a chance to get to the bggen sample using HDG4.
  * Sean: high level comparisons of HDG3 vs. HDG4 with bggen not useful,
    too much going on
      o Use pure, simple reactions: e.g. ρ, φ production
      o Justin: single particle gun an option too
          + charged particles
              # FDC
              # CDC
              # transition region
          + photons
              # BCAL
              # FCAL
  * Sean: want to use latest version of software, old versions have old
    software problems
  * Justin: we should set some milestones
      o by detector? I. e., FDC, CDC, BCAL, FCAL, TOF
      o Sean: can do comparisons with monitoring histograms
          + has some ready to go, will publish them
  * Someone: comparisons might be easier with no smearing
      o Sean has scripts to look at raw HDDM as generated by HDG
      o Smearing can be turned off in mcsmear easily
  * Need new version set for comparisons
      o look at doing a new release of HDGeant4
      o wait for Simon pull request before tagging
      o tag pre-split sim-recon repository, not post-split halld_sim +
        halld_recon


      Issues

  * Request for DGeometry access for DIRC positions in
    GlueXPrimaryGeneratorAction
    <https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/53>
      o Richard will work on this one
  * TOF hit time distribution shape
    <https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/52>
      o Richard: below thresholds hits are not in HDG4 that might appear
        in HDG3
  * CDC integrated charge shifted to higher values
    <https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/51>
      o This one has been resolved
  * Time shift in FCAL showers?
    <https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/10>
      o Richard: t = 0 not the same as interaction time
      o there a several suspects for this one
      o SCAT card sets vertex position
  * Upgrade path for Geant4
      o going to a new version is difficult
      o we are happy at current version for now


      Future Meetings

  * next meeting in two weeks at same time
  * will meet every two weeks until further notice
