As requested, I sent a message to the Google Group with some more debugging information, and opened a

Perhaps what we should have at the "Software meeting" should be to encourage reports on investigations in progress like this.  I hadn't prepared to say much since the investigation is still very much in the weeds, but maybe it is useful to discuss the status more broadly.
