Review of minutes from the last meeting
We reviewed the minutes from the meeting on July 2
<https://halldweb.jlab.org/wiki/index.php/HDGeant4_Meeting,_July_2,_2019#Minutes>.
See the entry for Issue #109 below for the discussion.
HDGeant4 and the Time-of-Flight Upgrade
Sean has noticed that there are a few geometry parameters for the TOF in
HDGeant4 that have hard-wired values. These should come from the HDDS
files served by the CCDB. Richard agreed to have a look.
[Added in press: Sean created Issue #123
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/123> after (during?)
the meeting].
DIRC simulations
See the entry for Issue #121 below for discussion on this topic.
Tracking Efficiency Study
We reviewed the plots that Naomi sent to Mark
<https://drive.google.com/open?id=1-lUkPE9lnPLjUHQYWR_yw6PZ75cBUxIZ>.
These have been shown at a previous tracking meeting. See
[[Media:NSJ_CDC_eff_simulation_21Aug2019.pdf|Naomi's slides] for the
details. We looked at the plots near the end. They show good overall
agreement between efficiency for pions and protons over a wide kinematic
region when comparing HDG3, HDG4, and real data.
Issues on GitHub
We reviewed the issues <https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues>.
* Issue 123: TOF geometry generalization
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/123>
o Added by Sean after the meeting.
* Issue 121: DIRC mirror reflectivity
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/121>
o Yunjie Yang noticed that he was not getting optical photons at
all in HDG4 whereas he was seeing a reasonable amount in HDG3.
Justin looked in the problem and found that "the material
properties weren't getting set for the G4OpticalSurface in
HddsG4Builder". Richard will review the change to make sure that
there are no other relevant properties that need to be set.
* Issue 118: Another segfault from G4VoxelNavigation::ComputeStep
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/118>
o See issue 109.
* Issue 117: Segfault from G4VoxelNavigation::Comp
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/117>
o See issue 109.
* Issue 113: Overall BCAL energy shift?
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/113>
o We will ask Mark Dalton about the status of this issue.
* Issue 111: Difference in Acceptance between G3 and G4
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/111>
o We will ask Colin Gleason about the status of this issue.
* Issue 109: G4Exception crash after Curve length mis-match
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/109>
o Richard suspects that the problem may be due to running
multi-threaded since our single-threaded jobs on the OSG do not
crash this way. Naomi will put together instructions on how she
is running hdgeant4 and Richard will try to reproduce the crash
at UConn. Naomi will also check that she still observes the
crash at CMU.
* Issue 107: Feature request - progress indicator
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/107>
o On Richard's list of things to do.
* Issue 105: Reading in # events and source
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/105>
o On Richard's list of things to do.
* Issue 102: Terminal cleanup?
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/102>
o On Richard's list of things to do.
* Issue 93: Calorimeter timing mismatch between g3 and g4
<https://github.com/JeffersonLab/HDGeant4/issues/93>
o We will ask Alex Austregesilo about the status of this issue.
