Hi Elliott,

    The argument hasn't changed:

The investment in manpower to both discuss and then make the switch must 
be projected to be less than the difference in manpower from maintaining 
each of the systems for this to be a worthwhile pursuit. To my 
knowledge, no one person has spent more than 1% of their coding time 
addressing issues inherent to make. (This includes the time I spent 
writing the current system!)

IMHO we should only even begin discussions on this when we start to see 
real problems with the existing system that would require significant 
investment of manpower to overcome. Otherwise, scons belongs in the same 
category as GEANT4 has been in for the last half a decade.

P.S. Maybe if you actually checked out and built the Hall-D software, 
you would fear "make" so much.
