[Halld-pid-upgrade] PID upgrade meeting: Thursday, April 2 @ 12 pm

I can't make the meeting this week since I'll be at PWA/ATHOS, but I wanted to mention that LHCb is planning on using the H12700 PMTs for it's RICH2 in Run 3. There has been a lot of work on characterizing these tubes and is documented internally. I contacted the authors and they say it'll be published before summer.

This includes very detailed measurements of the effects of B fields and cost estimates of shielding. For the B fields if the field is ~25G then one layer of shielding is sufficient. So this should cost us about $5k.

Anyway, this should help us in our review since we can simply site a lot of this work. I can't share the document but hopefully this will be published in about 1-2 months.

So we should be able to communicate with them here once they get signed up. We can talk more about on Thursday about what we discussed at their meeting, but the general summary is that they're interested in contributing to the GlueX DIRC and we can work with them to outline where their efforts would be most useful.
