Minutes

Prototype News

    Werner Boeglin has ordered a single sheet of scintillator from Eljen,
    76 mm×3 mm×60 cm. It will be sent to McNeal as raw material for five
    counters.

    Chuck will produce new drawings to the McNeal can make the correct
    shape. This will be important so the new counters register well with
    the new SiPM boards.

Read-Out Design

    Nick Sandoval reported to Mark that the some channels of the boards
    have been populated and basic tests have started. See the images below.
    Note that the SiPM's had not been soldered on when these photos were
    taken.

    Two of the 50 micron and two of the 100 micron SiPM's have been
    attached to boards. The 50 micron channels look good so far. Some
    adjustments to the 100 micron channels are underway.

Simulation

    Puneet has started HDGeant simulations to repeat the studies done by
    Sascha Somov for the new geometry. He is working with Sascha to
    validate his results now.

    He also has an idea for how to do give the scintillator volume
    different reflective properties on different faces in his Geant4 light
    collection simulation. He was able to consult with the experts while
    attending this week's Geant4 Tutorial at JLab.

Contract

    Mark sent a copy of the TOF Statement-of-Work to Werner as an example
    for FIU.

    Mark also put together an Advanced Procurement Plan (APP) using nominal
    time periods for the various steps. It shows the contract being awarded
    in February 2013. No money can be sent directly to FIU without a
    contract. We will quite likely have to go faster than the APP shows.
