Dear Hall-D Students and Post-docs,
We will be having an informal pizza lunch on Tuesday May 12th during the collaboration
meeting next week. The purpose is to have an open forum to ask questions of a few of the
more experienced collaborators that you might not have a good opportunity to ask otherwise.
Here are some examples:
- How do experiments get approved to run at JLab and who pays for them?
- How does the funding system for University and lab based research work in general?
(what is “soft money”)
- What’s the deal with this "publication policy" I’ve been hearing about and how does it
affect me?
- What’s a “DIRC”?
- How do drift chambers work?
Undergraduate students, graduate students, and post-docs are all welcome. The lunch is
FREE and will take place on Tuesday in F326-327 at 12:30 or whenever we break for lunch.
I’ll be taking a head count on Monday morning to get an idea of how much food to order. If
you want to participate and won’t be there for the head count, let me know. Also, let
me know if you have any requests for the type of pizza.
Regards,
-David Lawrence
