Dear GlueX Collaborators,

Yesterday evening, accelerator finished tuning the Hall D but as we started the first step of the runplan, a problem with the beam separator developed. The bottomline is that CEBAF cannot support 4 hall operation at the moment and it was decided that Hall D should be put on standby. The reasons are that Halls B and C have their central equipment to commission, and that Hall A is using a delicate Tritium target, which associated program must be done as expediently as possible. For these reasons, Hall D's program was judged to be the lowest priority.

On Monday, accelerator will check the progress in understanding the problem(s) with the separator and see if Hall D can be brought back in the run. Another possibility that could allow Hall D to run (including this week-end) is if Hall B encounters problem and its program cannot be done. In that case, Hall D will be brought back on line.

Consequently:

Shifts are canceled until Saturday 8am. Shifts between Saturday 8am and Monday 4pm are on standby. Thereafter, they remain regular shifts for now. The target is being warmed up, so that there is no need of babysitting during over the week-end.

The RC meetings of Saturday and Sunday are canceled.

Thank you,

Alexandre Deur, Hall D Run Coordinator.
