Dear colleagues,

We are starting a postdoc search in the Nebraska CMS group with a focus
on state-of-the-art software and computing.  See

<https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=http-3A__inspirehep.net_record_1748258-26gt&d=DwMFaQ&c=CJqEzB1piLOyyvZjb8YUQw&r=i3BxiInvFIdWuzU_zoMBCQ&m=LMd9M9sbqmBBx-Est5t0xxNS2KHyv42c2aYBY6JBPBE&s=OhTEJPmRLd9dcZK-dJoFvY0ugd4mmRZwJkiqfx0ruKc&e=>;
and also the text below.  The deadline is September 15 ??? we???ll look
forward to hearing from you!  Best wishes.

Ken Bloom

The High Energy Physics group at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln
(UNL) seeks to hire a Postdoctoral Research Associate to join its
research program on the CMS experiment at CERN???s Large Hadron
Collider.

The CMS group presently consists of four faculty members, two
postdocs, and four graduate students. In addition to CMS, the HEP
group also participates in the Askaryan Radio Array neutrino
experiment at the South Pole and the proposed milliQan experiment
that will search for fractionally charged particles. Current
responsibilities in CMS include hosting a Tier-2 computing center
and innovating CMS software and computing, construction of the
HL-LHC inner tracker upgrade, and contributing to electron and
photon reconstruction and identification algorithm development as
well as operations of the present CMS detector. The group pursues
physics measurements in the Higgs, electroweak, top-quark, and
beyond-the-standard-model areas. The HEP group also includes one
theorist-phenomenologist faculty member and a theory postdoc who
work on LHC-related topics.

The successful candidate will lead efforts in analysis of CMS data,
most likely in top and/or Higgs physics.  The candidate will also
participate in the activities of the multi-institutional DIANA-HEP

and IRIS-HEP (https://iris-hep.org

projects,
which seek to develop state-of-the-art software and computing
infrastructure to respond to the challenges of data-intensive
research at the High Luminosity LHC.  Demonstrated ability with HEP
software and computing system development is preferred. The initial
term is one year with possible renewal of up to two additional
years, subject to mutual satisfaction.  The planned work station
is either UNL or Fermilab, with some travel between those locations
and CERN as needed. Lincoln, Nebraska is the state capital and
college town of 280,000, highly evaluated for business and careers

To qualify, candidates must have received a Ph.D. in experimental
high energy physics within the last five years.   Candidates with
experience in analyzing data using Python and interest in advancing
the state-of-the-art of HEP analysis are highly encouraged to apply.

Applications must include a letter of application, curriculum vitae,
publication list, a statement of research interests, and at least
three letters of reference. Application materials should be sent
to:
