[Halld] Update on start of the run

Dear Collaborators,

The start of the Spring 2019 run is proceeding very smoothly: once the 4He processing was completed at the end of last week and after some other cavity problems were tackled, the accelerator ops established very quickly a good beam to the halls. In Hall D, we started carrying out our runplan Friday (Feb. 8th), a bit before midnight.

During Friday, there was some trouble with the solenoid power supply. This delayed the solenoid ramp up, and required a access during most of the afternoon. But this did not cost us time since accelerator ops used this time to tune the beam to the other halls. The Solenoid achieved its nominal field shortly after midnight, coincident with the start of our runplan.

During last night, the procedure to assess the photon beam quality and optimize it was done. The beam looks fine for the commissioning plan. It's convergence is not good, but good convergence is not required for the current program. So there is no plan to address this for now.

We are now in the process of check-ing out the detectors, trigger and DAQ. If things continue as they are, we should be getting into the DIRC commissioning phase 1 this afternoon. This is a very good start.

As things are progressing well, there will be no run meeting today.

Best regards,

Alexandre Deur, Hall D Run Coordinator.
