Hi Michael,
Last week we met with 12GeV upgrade management and went over the
progress of the project. By the end of the meeting we developed a list
of issues which need to be addressed, some of which we are hoping you
can help us out with the answers to. If you could review these perhaps
we can go over some of them in our bi-weekly EVO meeting tomorrow with
Latifa. Answers to these will help with the current progress and future
reviews and meetings.
The questions are as follows:
1. Is there any progress on evaluating the current MSU module
assembly process to allow for the current HFCB design?
2. Are there any previous experiments which use bolts/screws to
fasten the electronics to the module?
3. Are there any module construction tools which need to be purchased
or designed.
4. Using the proposed method of module construction (FR4 i-beams with
rohacell supports), what will provide for electromagnetic
shielding? Could you recommend any previous experiments using this
method?
5. If we do have to go with the carbon fiber/foam core design due to
the reasons of electromagnetic shielding and also prevention of
multiple scattering from the FR4 spacers, does MSU have the
capability to construct the stave?
6. What is the proposed module assembly process?
7. What mechanical designs are expected of Jefferson Lab to provide
for MSU?
8. When are you expecting any mechanical designs from Jefferson Lab?
9. Who will provide/order the module materials?
10. Which entity is expected to provide designs and parts/materials
for the module storage containers?
11. Is there any assistance we could provide that will allow for a
full chain test for the September review?
So far these are some of the questions we could use your help on, I'm
sure there will be more in the future.
Thanks,
Marc
