[Hps] [EXTERNAL] 2021 Event Skimming

Faraday cup signal is in bit 15 (starting from 0) of so called Front panel of the TS board.
That is what Cameron called "ext word". This signal has prescale as well.
Faraday cup rate is proportional to the beam current that is important to for the background merging.
Pulser has 100 Hz rate independently of the beam current. It couts without beam as well.

Hi Norman,

The trigger supervisor (TS) provides two words of trigger bits, documented as the "prescaled word" and the "ext word".
The trigger bit you have referred to thus far are all in the "prescaled word", so the pulser trigger is bit 15 of the prescaled word.
The random trigger bit is bit 15 of the "ext word".

Cheers,
Cameron

Hi Cameron,

Thank you for your request.

Pulser corresponds to trigger #15.

Which trigger is the random trigger?

Norman

Dear Norman,

A reminder that we also agreed during the collaboration meeting to include both the random trigger and pulser trigger bits in this skim.

Thanks,

Cameron

Dear Colleagues,

As we discussed at the collaboration meeting, we would like to start skimming selected events from the 2021 run based on their triggers. Since this will involve staging roughly 1PB of data and processing all the files we would like to include all the triggers that we envision being needed for calibration or other purposes, while still keeping the resulting skimmed files to a reasonably small fraction of the data. We currently plan to skim the following triggers:

00 Moller Top

01 Moller PDE Top

04 Moller Bottom

05 Moller PDE Bottom

09 Moller pair

11 Pair-3 (mu+mu-)

18 FEE Top

19 FEE Bottom

This is expected to be roughly 5% of the data and will be used primarily for calibration purposes.

Please let us know right away if a trigger that you need is being overlooked in this list as we would like to begin this process as soon as possible.

For reference, here is a screenshot from one of our later production runs at 3.7GeV:
