the initial kick-off meeting for the jlab golf league for the 2010
season was held
on tuesday, february 9th.

we discussed the following topics and some items are listed at the
bottom of this email to be voted on by
the league.

-please let your captain from last year know if you plan to play this
year or not.
new people joining the league this year will be placed on the teams that
need players.
the method teams are made up might change depending on the vote results
(see below).
-jim coleman will be investigating the conditions for playing at kiln
creek. if it looks feasible
then we'll vote whether to play at kiln creek or newport news.
-daylight savings time begins on march 14th. the league will start play
on april 5th. there will be
rain dates and only one or two special events on the schedule since the
special events are not well attended.
-tee times will remain 4:30 to 5:00 on mondays.
-remember new people have to have two nine hole rounds in to establish a
handicap before they can play in a match.
-after we decide how to make up teams, pay your $10.00 league dues to
your captain.
-if you know of someone that might be interested in playing, please
forward them this email
and let me know if they want to play so they can be added to a team.
-dave buckle will continue to do the scorekeeping and web page updates
and john ferreira will assist.
-the rules committee will remain kelly dixon, paul powers and mac
mestayer unless they refuse. they will need to address
the following:
-when to have winter rules and when not to and what do winter rules mean.
   - what to do about embedded balls and lift/clean/place and when they
apply.
-what to do about a ball resting on a tree root.
-any of the things we vote on and passed from the list below will
have to be incorporated into the rules.

please email me your vote on the following items:

1. should the team rosters be done as they have in the past, or should
we have the lowest eight handicapped people
be captains and have them pick teams like in a draft.

2. should we still have people playing the card or have one person from
the team with the fewer people play two people
on the other team at the same time.

3. should the end of year tournament be single or double elimination. or
should we not have an end of year tournament
and each team play every other team 3 times instead of 2 times
during the season and the winner of the regular
    season is the champion.

4. should children of employees, over 16, be allowed to play in the golf
league.

5. should 'significant others' of lab employees be allowed to play in
the golf league.

6. should the maximum score remain 5 over par or be double par.

i'll tally up the votes and let you know the results. please vote by
c.o.b. on friday february 19th.

thanks. danny
