[Jlab-scicomp-briefs] JLab scientific software upgrades

A software update from Maurizio Ungaro < ungaro at jlab.org > : 

Upgraded JLab scientific software libraries are installed on the CUE machines. JLab Version 1.2 includes: 

- QT: 4.8.5 —> 5.3.2 
- geant4: 4.9.6.p03 —> 10.00.p03 
- gemc: 2.1 —> 2.2 
- scons_build_system: 1.1 —> 1.2 
- ROOT: 5.34.21 
- CCDB (new): 1.03 

The "production.csh", currently pointing at 1.1, will be updated next Tuesday, Feb 10 to point to 1.2. 

We now have 3 versions of libraries: 

- 1.2 
- 1.1 
- 1.0 

Details on what's in each version can be found here . 

Users can quickly setup the environment as before: 

source /site/12gev_phys/production.csh 
source /site/12gev_phys/devel.csh 

Users can also select custom versions using the JLAB_VERSION env variable: 

setenv JLAB_ROOT /site/12gev_phys 
setenv JLAB_VERSION 1.2 
source $JLAB_ROOT/$JLAB_VERSION/ce/jlab.csh 

Devel will include among others geant4 v 10.1, qt 5.4 and evio 4.3 support. It may include ROOT 6 support. 
Starting with devel, CentOS 62 machines will no longer be supported, as they're replaced by CentOS 65.
