Hello, everyone: 

This is a reminder on today’s Computing Round Table at 1:00 p.m. (EDT) . We will discuss software licenses and software citations: 


    * Heather Meeker will speak about copyleft and open source software licenses. From her book “Open (Source) for Business: A Practical Guide to Open Source Software Licensing”: An attorney in private practice, Heather Meeker is a 20-year veteran of Silicon Valley who specializes in intellectual property transactions for technology clients in a range of industries including software, communications, educational testing, computer equipment, and medical devices. She has extensive experience in open source licensing strategies and in intellectual property and technology matters related to mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Meeker served as an adjunct professor of law at Hastings College of the Law and University of California Berkeley School of Law, teaching seminars on technology licensing. 
    * Daniel Katz will talk about software citations. Daniel Katz is Assistant Director for Scientific Software and Applications at the National Center for Supercomputing Applications (NCSA), Research Associate Professor in Computer Science (CS), Research Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), Research Associate Professor in the School of Information Sciences (iSchool), and Faculty Affiliate in Computational Science and Engineering (CSE) at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. 
    * Kim Edwards (Jefferson Lab) will summarize the “Scientific Technical Information Program Working Group Meeting” at Jefferson Lab ( https://www.jlab.org/conferences/stip2018/index.html ). 
    * Kari Heffner (Jefferson Lab) will present the current working policy/procedure draft for open source software at Jefferson Lab and solicit feedback.
