A Study of the Nuclear Dependance of the Longitudinal Structure Function in the Resonance Region

Abstract:

Hall C experiment E04-001 was part of a full program to investigate possible medium modification of the longitudinal structure function. Medium modification has been well studied in the DIS region for F2 (e.g. EMC effect), however, no definitive evidence was provided about the medium modification for FL specially in the resonance region. Targets included 12C, 56Fe, and 27Al to compliment the existing data on Hydrogen and Deuterium. The experiment ran in the nucleon resonance region spanning the four-momentum transfer range Q2 : 0.5 - 4.0 GeV2. An overview of the progress of analyzing E04-001, in addition to preliminary results will be presented.
