Neutron Spin Sum Rules and Spin Polarizabilities at Low Q2
Abstract:
Jefferson Lab has become one of the premier facilities for the study of nucleon spin structure. Over the past twenty years, several high precision measurements have been performed that have extended our knowledge of the spin-dependent structure functions g1(x,Q2) and g2(x,Q2) between Q2 = 0.02 - 5 GeV2. Moments of the spin structure functions have been formed from the measurements to study generalized spin sum rules and spin polarizabilities. In this presentation, I will discuss measurements on the neutron extracted from a polarized 3He target in the low Q2 region. Experiment E97-110 was performed in Hall A to study the neutron and 3He spin structure in a Q2 range between 0.02 and 0.3 GeV2. This Q2 range allows us to make a benchmark-check of Chiral Perturbation Theory calculations. The data analysis and final results on the moments of the neutron spin structure functions will be presented.
