Dear Colleague,
NuSTEC is a currently-forming collaboration of theorists and
experimentalists working on neutrino nucleus scattering physics. In
addition to coordinating studies between theorists and experimentalists
and organizing workshops, we are organizing a school on neutrino-nucleus
scattering physics. The first part of the school will focus on Neutrino
Generators and will take place just before the NuInt14 Workshop outside
London in May (you should have received an announcement from Costas
Andreopoulos).

The second part of the NuSTEC school will take place in mid-October at
Fermilab, focusing on the theory of neutrino nucleus scattering. A
tentative agenda of lecture topics is attached. The school will last 9
days including a free day at the half-way point. A lecture day will
consist of four 1 hour lectures, a 1.5 hour recitation session
encouraging questions/discussions on all of the day's lectures, and an
informal nightcap for all students and lecturers together. Totals for
the school are then 32 hours of lecture plus 12 hours of recitation. It
is aimed at experimental graduate students and postDocs within, roughly,
± 2 years of the PhD. However we imagine there will be many more-senior
neutrino physicists who would find these lectures interesting.

We have a local hotel to house participants and lecturers. There will
be a registration fee currently set at $650 for participants needing a
hotel that will include 10 nights in the hotel (double room), bus from
the hotel to Fermilab, breakfast and lunch at Fermilab, coffee breaks
and bus back to the hotel where the recitation and nightcap will be held
after the evening meal. For participants already living at/around
Fermilab not needing the hotel, there is a reduced registration fee of
$250 that will include lunch, the coffee breaks as well as the
recitation and nightcap at the hotel.

Our next steps are to seek additional funding for the school and
negotiate a contract with the hotel. However we need your input to
proceed further. For both the funding proposals and hotel contract we
need a better idea of how many participants could be expected at the
theory school in October. WE WOULD VERY MUCH APPRECIATE YOUR ESTIMATE ON
POSSIBLE PARTICIPATION FROM YOUR GROUP INDICATING THOSE NEEDING HOTEL
AND, SEPARATELY, THOSE NOT NEEDING A HOTEL.

PLEASE REPLY TO Rocco Schiavilla ( schiavil at jlab.org ) WITH YOUR
ESTIMATE BY MONDAY, MARCH 17 (2014!).
