Dear JLab collaborators,

JSA has notified us of the award of $18,000 from the FY2014 Initiatives
Fund Program to continue to provide travel support for graduate students
and post-docs working in the four Halls and in the Theory Group to
present their results at national and international conferences and
workshops. The Junior Scientist Travel Support project has been funded
by JSA since FY2009. The JSA Initiatives Fund Program is a commitment
from the JSA owners to support programs, initiatives, and activities
that further the scientific outreach, and promote the science, education
and technology missions of Jefferson Lab and benefit the Lab user community.

The travel funds will enable more of our junior colleagues to receive
the recognition they deserve for their hard work and will help them
improve their communication skills and reputation as they seek their
next jobs. The JSA funds will cover up to 50% of the travel cost. The
traveler is expected to find grant or other support for the remaining
50% or more. The Travel Fund Committee has been confirmed
(M.Battaglieri-Chair, D.Dutta, and D.Higinbotham) with the duty of
administering travel requests. Eligible researchers are students
(undergraduate and PhD) and post-doc's who are not receiving other JSA
Initiatives Fund support (e.g., graduate fellowships, JSA research
grants) and who are not Lab staff members.

Advisors/supervisors should visit the web page at
http://www.jsallc.org/IF/IndexJSTF.html, complete the required form, and
send requests for matching money (up to $400-500 or $800-1000 for local
or abroad venues respectively) to the Travel Fund Committee chair (Marco
Battaglieri battagli at jlab.org <mailto:battagli at jlab.org>) addressing
what and where the young scientists will be presenting their results,
the scientific potential of the student, and a statement of commitment
to pay for balance of the travel costs. The simple participation to
workshops and conferences will also be considered.

The Committee will examine applications and reply to requests in a
timely manner. Applications can be submitted anytime. For any questions
or further information send a message to battagli at jlab.org
<mailto:battagli at jlab.org>.

Sincerely,
Marco Battaglieri (chair)
Douglas Higinbotham
Dipangkar Dutta
