POSTDOCTORAL RESEARCH ASSOCIATE



The Medium Energy Physics Group at Mississippi State University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate position. The group has research interests which include studies of nucleon structure and hadronic physics at Jefferson Lab.

The current focus of the group includes preparation for three upcoming experiments- the Tagged Deep Inelastic Scattering (TDIS) experiment in Hall-A, the precise measurement of the proton charge radius (the PRad-II experiment) in Hall-B, the pion color transparency experiment in Hall-C and analysis of the recently completed search for color transparency in photonuclear processes in Hall-D. The group is also involved in future parity violating electron scattering experiments such as the MOLLER experiment.



We are looking for candidates who will be stationed at Jefferson Lab and will lead our effort towards analysis of or preparation for one or more of the experiments mentioned above. Candidates will also be encouraged to actively participate in the development of new experimental proposals for JLab. A PhD in experimental nuclear or particle physics or related fields is required. The initial appointment is for one year and is expected to start on August 16, 2022. The appointment can be extended for a maximum of two additional years, based on mutual satisfaction and continued funding.
