[lqcd-users] Reminder: LQCD Slurm upgrade tomorrow morning

A Reminder of the maintenance window tomorrow:

On Tuesday, Sept 21, 2021, at 8:00am EDT, Slurm will be upgraded to version 20 on all the Jefferson Lab LQCD clusters: 16p, 18p, 19g, and 21g. This upgrade is being done to accomplish several aims:

  *   Provide AMD ROCM support for Slurm on the 21g cluster
  *   Patch known security issues in earlier versions of Slurm
  *   Make configuration changes in preparation for 21g production allocation beginning on October 1.

The end user impact is expected to be minimal, and we do not anticipate pausing the queues or job execution during this upgrade. There will be brief outages of Slurm commands and web page status during the database upgrade and software installation. We will provide a status update when the work is completed.
