> The experimental neutrino physics group at Carnegie Mellon University invites applications for a postdoctoral research position, to begin in Fall 2018, at at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__apply.interfolio.com_5143&d=DwIFaQ&c=lz9TcOasaINaaC3U7FbMev2lsutwpI4--09aP8Lu18s&r=QefBEc-saYdd4FxAnR-29w&m=vokINNYLLZQonKPHoA0gYfyRt6QUrt3IgzAOTPelHLA&s=kYqMqgEbKdsQXAdjETFy2d7liw71-Za68-rpI76yNA8&e= . Our research program includes work on the KATRIN neutrino-mass experiment and the COHERENT neutrino-scattering experiment. The successful applicant will make significant contributions to data-taking, physics analysis, simulations, and the general software framework for both experiments, with possible projects in hardware test stands and experimental design, as well as guiding graduate and undergraduate students working on the experiments. The position is expected to be based primarily in Pittsburgh, with travel to the experimental sites.
>
> Other Carnegie Mellon research activities include rich programs in cosmology, medium- and high-energy physics, and machine learning.
>
> The initial appointment is for one year, renewable up to two times (for a total of three years) upon satisfactory progress. The successful candidate must hold a PhD in experimental nuclear or particle physics, or equivalent postdoctoral experience, by the time the position starts. Experience in data analysis and C++/python programming is crucial; experience in simulations and detector and vacuum hardware are highly desirable. The successful candidate will be able to effectively interact and work with members of the KATRIN and COHERENT collaborations, on- and off-site.
>
> Candidates should submit a cover letter, CV (including publication list) and statement of research plans, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent via Interfolio at https://urldefense.proofpoint.com/v2/url?u=https-3A__apply.interfolio.com_5143&d=DwIFaQ&c=lz9TcOasaINaaC3U7FbMev2lsutwpI4--09aP8Lu18s&r=QefBEc-saYdd4FxAnR-29w&m=vokINNYLLZQonKPHoA0gYfyRt6QUrt3IgzAOTPelHLA&s=kYqMqgEbKdsQXAdjETFy2d7liw71-Za68-rpI76yNA8&e= . Application materials should be received by July 17, 2018, to ensure full consideration. The position will remain open until filled.
