Hello, Jefferson Lab Community:

Please scan this memo as it covers roads, parking and housekeeping 
modifications starting Thursday and continuing through Saturday, Open 
House day.  This memo covers:

1. JLab Road and Parking Restrictions for Thursday and Friday During 
Open House Setup  

2. Volunteer Parking on Open House Day

3. Individuals Intending to Work in CEBAF Center on Saturday Also 
Require Parking Passes (not part of Open House effort)

4. Housekeeping: Office Trash and Recycling Pick Up Will Take Place 
Thursday Instead of Friday

*1. Open House setup and preparation will impact some Jefferson Lab 
roads and parking areas tomorrow (Thursday) and Friday. Please read 
below so you are aware of the areas being impacted to avoid unnecessary 
delays and congestion.*

- The Flag Alley section of SURA Road will be closed April 29-30 for 
Open House setup. This section of road will close mid-morning on 
Thursday, for tent setup.

- The CEBAF Center Circle will be closed April 29-30 for Open House setup. 

To access the main (east) CEBAF Center parking lot after Flag Alley 
closes, take Onnes Drive to SURA Road and then drive between the EEL 
(Bldg. 90) and the Test Lab (Bldg. 58) and drive behind the EEL to 
access the main CEBAF Center parking lot.

On the Accelerator Site:

- A portion of the parking lot area between the Hall A and Hall C truck 
ramp entrances (west of Bldg. 72, the Physics Storage Building) will be 
closed April 29-30 for Open House setup.

Users and staff will still be able to access the Counting House and work 
areas, but the one-way lane will be somewhat compressed.

- The parking area behind the FEL (bldg. 18) will be closed April 29-30 
for Open House setup.

- The parking spots adjacent to Accelerator Stairwell #4 won't be 
accessible on Friday, April 30.

- Access inside the Transportainers along the South Linac won't be 
accessible on Friday.

- Additionally on Thursday, April 29: The south portion of the East Arc 
of the Accelerator Site footprint road will be blocked to allow for safe 
delivery of concrete to the General Purpose Building Addition (Bldg 36) 
construction site. A flagman will be present to allow necessary traffic 
passage at allowable points in the work (i.e. Accelerator staff, Open 
House set up & vendor vehicles). Other traffic is asked to stay away 
from that area to avoid delays and to limit congestion. The work is 
scheduled to take place between 6 a.m. and 12-noon.  For more details,

*2. The attached pdf is a map showing entrance points, parking and 
volunteer shuttle information for Open House day, Saturday, May 1.* 
Please look it over or print it out as needed.  Please note that the 
main entrance, Onnes Drive, will close at 8:30 a.m.  After that time, 
enter JLab via Hogan and Hofstadter Road (in front of the VARC).

ALL Volunteers parking in the limited volunteer parking spaces on the 
Accelerator Site must enter the Accelerator Site to park no later than 8 
a.m. on Saturday. Those vehicles will stay parked in their spaces until 
4 p.m. Saturday.

*3. Any individuals not working the Open House, who intend to work in 
their offices in CEBAF Center on Saturday must follow the same parking 
instructions that Open House Volunteers are following that day. *Get a 
parking pass from Michelle Lechman by noon Friday (email 
lechman at jlab.org <mailto:lechman at jlab.org>) and follow the Volunteer 
parking instructions provided in the attached pdf map.

*4. Housekeeping for the entire laboratory: *The trash and recycling 
disposal schedule is altered this week due to the Open House on 
Saturday.  The office trash and recycling will picked up on Thursday 
night instead of Friday. All dumpsters will be emptied on Friday 
morning. On Friday, perishable items may be disposed of in any restroom 
or kitchen area trash container. Restroom and kitchenette waste 
containers will be emptied on Friday.
