[On_site_list] JLab Community: Ready, Set, Go! to the 2010 Run-A-Round

Dust off those running shoes! The 25th annual Jefferson Lab Run-A-Round 
will be held Wednesday, May 12 from 2:30-6 p.m.  Laboratory staff, 
users, full-time contractors and immediate family members are invited to 
participate. Staff and users that participate can receive a free 2010 
JLab T-shirt by turning in their Run-A-Round bibs at the T-shirt 
distribution tent right after the run/walk.

The event will begin in front of CEBAF Center at 2:30 p.m. with the 
debut of the 2010 T-shirt. The run/walk will start promptly at 3 p.m.; 
please note this is an EARLIER start time from years past. The run will 
cover a 2.5 kilometer (~1.5 mile) course, and the Peninsula Track Club 
will collect official times at the finish line.

Food and beverages, music and the awards presentations will follow the 
race on the field behind the SURA Residence Facility. Awards will go to 
the top three male and female finishers in each age group and to the top 
three overall fastest male and female finishers.

*Register For Run-A-Round By May 11*
Online registration is open on the JAG webpage at: 
http://www.jlab.org/intralab/committees/jag/.  All runners/walkers must 
register to be eligible for prizes. Online registration is open through 
5 p.m. on Tuesday, May 11. Register your family members planning to 
participate. All participants must pick up their race bibs on Wednesday, 
May 12 between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. in the CEBAF Center lobby.

Late registration will also be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 
12 in the CEBAF Center lobby. However, individuals registering the day 
of the race won't be eligible for awards.

*Volunteers Make Event a Success: Just 1-2 Hours of Your Time Needed*
The success of this event depends on participation and volunteer 
support. Volunteering is a great way to meet new faces and catch up with 
colleagues and co-workers. Volunteer sign-up is available on the JAG 
webpage <http://www.jlab.org/intralab/committees/jag/>. Volunteer help 
is needed before, during and after the event in a variety of areas:

·                     Early food preparation

·                     Staff the late registration and bib distribution 
tables the day of the event

·                     Water stations, course set up and monitoring the 
finish line

·                     T-shirt distribution

·                     Food and beverage tents before and during event

·                     Clean-up.

*Event Will Temporarily Close JLab Roads *
Please be aware that during the Run-A-Round (3 - 4 p.m.), the some 
streets will be temporarily closed to traffic for runner/walker safety: 
JLab's main entrance (Onnes Drive), SURA Road, Lawrence Drive, 
Hofstadter Road, Rutherford Road (including the entire parking lot 
between the VARC and CEBAF Center) and the connector roads on the north 
and south sides of CEBAF Center.

If you will need to leave JLab during this time, please park your car in 
one of the ARC parking lots. Family members participating in the event 
are also asked to park in the ARC lots and walk to CEBAF Center. 
* *Parking at the SURA Residence Facility is only for registered Res. 
Facility guests. Race flow will be routed to avoid contractors departing 
the lab at the end of the contractors' work day.

"Register online before the May 11 deadline so you won't be stuck in the 
late-registration line the day of the event," says Dave Williams, 
Jefferson Lab Activities Group chair. "Also, please register family 
members that plan to participate, as this helps the JAG with refreshment 
planning and preparation."

"This is a great opportunity to catch up with colleagues, meet new 
employees and users, and enjoy the fresh air," Williams adds. "The JAG 
Committee looks forward to seeing you there."

Volunteer help is critical to the success of this event; use the online

straight forward and require just an hour or two of your time. Contact

In case of inclement weather on May 12, the event will take place at the 
same time on the following day, May 13.

Bring yourself and immediate family and sunscreen. Strollers are 
allowed, and cue up behind the runners and walkers. Please don't bring 
roller skates, skateboards or pets. Food is served until it is gone.

*Timeline Reminders*

·                     Register Online through 5 p.m., Tuesday, May 11.

·                     Race Day: Pick up race bib, Wednesday, May 12, 9 
a.m. -- 2 p.m. in the CEBAF Center Lobby.

·                     Day of race late registration: 9 a.m. -- 2 p.m. in 
the CEBAF Center Lobby. Not eligible for awards.

·                     Debut of JLab 2010 T-shirt: 2:30 p.m.: CEBAF 
Center Circle.

·                     Run-A-Round begins promptly at 3 p.m. Start line 
on SURA Road in front of CEBAF Center Circle. Please note the earlier 
start time from years past.

·                     3:30 p.m.: Food and beverages on field behind SURA 
Residence Facility. JLab employees and users turn in race bib for T-shirt.

After 4:30 p.m.: Awards announced.
