Megan,
No worries on the response time, I know you guys have a lot going on. I'll finalize the traveler with your input and submit it later this week, thanks!

Adam,
Sorry for the delayed response!
1) We can implement that! We would make the material and SN type drop down with a text box underneath that will push the material type into the database. When writing the traveler please format like this for both material and SN
[[MTRLSN]] <<MTRLSN>>
[[OtherMaterial]] <<TEXT>>
[[Please push text from OtherMaterial to the MTRLSN dropdown]] <<NOTE>>
2) At this current time, we cannot implement a “Carry over from previous record” function nor can we automatically fill in from the previous traveler when instantiated. We will keep it on our minds for future developments. You can make use of drop-down lists wherever feasible like materials, settings, etc… use <<SELECT>>
3) A <<NOTE>> is a note to the person converting the traveler. This pops up on our end when we are in the conversion process and alerts us of a calculation. If you want a calculation, you must add the fields used in the calculation and the box you want populated with the calculated value. Here is an example
[[Num1]] <<FLOAT>>
[[Num2]] <<FLOAT>>
[[Num3]] <<FLOAT>>
[[NumAvg]] <<FLOAT>>
[[Please calc the average of Num1, Num2, and Num3 and put the answer in NumAvg]] <<NOTE>>
4) Yes, we can come up with a report and add a “search” function in that. Please just let us know what fields you want in this report, as well as what field you wanted to be able to be searched
5) Yes. If you put the previously collected data into an excel sheet, we can populate that data into the traveler for you. When making the spreadsheet, please name the column headers to match the field names they will go into in the traveler
6) Please upload to the “Ready for Approvals” folder in the SRF R&D area of DocuShare and send an email to pansophy at jlab.org<mailto:pansophy at jlab.org> to notify us that it is there. The EBW traveler should be titled SRFRD-EBW-COMP
Let us know if you have any more questions!
Megan

Megan/Pansophy Team,
I have the traveler mostly completed, a few questions:
(1) Is it possible to have a modifiable drop-down list? I want to choose the material type via drop-down, but since we don't know every material we will be welding in the future, it would be helpful if we could add items to it (perhaps via a final option of "Add.." which opens a pop-up, or using a text box in the traveler)? That value would then appear in the current and future instantiations of the traveler.
(2) Is it possible to add a button titled "Carry over from previous record" that will populate the current (new) record with data from the previous entry? We tend to do a lot of repeat work, either when doing production runs, or when doing development work we only change 1 or 2 things at a time, it would make things simpler to not have to re-fill the entire entry each time. If having a button to do that isn't possible, can we have new records automatically fill in with data from the previous when instantiated?
(3) Should the <<NOTE>> field type be used in addition to the actual desired data field type, or by itself? (Should it be "<<NOTE>> Integer value that calculates based on blah blah blah" or "<<INTEGER>><<NOTE>> Calculate based on blah blah blah")
(4) Can this traveler have a searchable table view for looking at all the information, similar to how Primes works?
(5) As I mentioned previously, we have been collecting this data already in an excel spreadsheet, will it be possible to directly upload that data into the traveler, or will we need to go through and create records for each of our previous welds?
(6....and final) Where should I upload the traveler for approvals, since it's not directly associated with any specific project? SRF common procedures?
Thanks for the help!

Adam,
That sounds great! An example of a past EBW traveler is in Pansophy under SRF > STP called STP-EBW-WELD if you want to use that for reference. I have attached the authorship guide for writing travelers in this email and there are other resources available on the bottom left of the Pansophy home page. It seems like you have a pretty good feel for what you want but we are always here to help if you need! If you would prefer a meeting for a “how-to” or for assistance on the writing, don’t hesitate to ask! We will be happy to have EBW data back on Pansophy!

Pansophy Team,
I would like to work on re-integrating our EBW information into Pansophy. It seems after reviewing what information I can find that previous systems were only used sometimes, stored in multiple locations, and generally were more of a step confirmation ("Yes I welded this") than a way to gather any meaningful data ("I welded this using these parameters, this program, on this material, and this was the result"). For the past few months we have been collecting the data relevant to us in an excel spreadsheet stored on docushare (here<https://jlabdoc.jlab.org/docushare/dsweb/Get/Document-229748/EBW%20Data.xlsx>). I have an a pretty good idea of how I'd like things to work moving forward and some features of a general traveler that I'd like to integrate, most of which I've seen in other areas of Pansophy/Primes. If you'd like to setup a meeting to discuss this, please do, otherwise let me know and I can outline my thoughts via email (I know the team isn't big and it seems like you guys are in every meeting, so I don't want to take up too much of your time).
Thank you,
Adam O'Brien
