[Pansophy] Cavity serial numbers for L2HE

Adam G / John V,

After lots of discussions I have decided, based on consensus, that the renumbering of cavity serial numbers is not a practice that should be done.
Other projects do not renumber a cavity because of rework/reprocess if the cavity is the same.
The same is true for other components that are sent out and returned.

The return to vendor is captured in the NCR and the INV traveler shows that the cavity was re-received into inventory.
The Serial Number Search, the traceability report, shows the timeline for any component.

https://pansophy.jlab.org/pansophy/Production/SNQuery.cfm

Renumbering will cause a lost of traceability and (I believe) more confusion to the production staff and future scientists who may datamine these cavities.
The Quality Group is working on a upgrade to the SRFOPS ISO documents to reflect.

Valerie,

We had a meeting before the holiday break to discuss this issue. We need to get this sorted out in the next day or two because we need to start work on these items. These serial numbers need to be updated for the HE cavity INV travelers. Can Mike just redo the incoming INV travelers to reflect the updated serial numbers as indicated below? Then the ones without the suffix would need to be deleted. The second part of this is that we would like to not have the old serial numbers show up in any new Traveler drop down menus, can that be done?

HE-CAVR086-RT
HE-CAVR094-RT
HE-CAVR105-RT
HE-CAVR108-RP

Thanks,

Some meeting notes.

-Need traceability of old and new cavities. Needs to conform with ISO standards.
-Lock out old serial numbers from being used in newly instantiated travelers. Valerie, can we do this? Only the new numbers should be an option when instantiating or adding components to an assembly.
-Mark cavities with new RT/RP markings, marker for now? John V.
-John will also contact RI about marking the remaining 3 cavities before they ship to us.
-Inventory will re-INV the new cavities with RT/RP added to the serial number as required.

Thanks all, happy holidays,
