Dear PEPPo Collaborator,
It is surprising that tomorrow will be already one month since the end
of the run. I hope you are taking respite; certainly July & August are
typical for this, and consequently difficult to organize a strategic
push on the analysis. However, activities march onward, so I provide
here some updates:
1. The positron wiki (positron.jlab.org) is now password protected;
requiring a JLAB CUE login/password and membership of unix group
"positron". If you are not on the list below and need access then let
me know. The corresponding group area is /u/group/positron/
grames,freyberg,golge,hyde,bogdanw,camsonne,cardman,yjkim,cuevas,dumas,eforman,machie,poelker,suleiman,tforest,dadoun,benesch,adeyemi,
aguilera,brianj,fanchini,voutier,real,setisadi,gueye
2. The PEPPo DAQ VME/NIM crates are powered off; loaned FADC/TI has been
returned to Fast Electronics Group and NIM modules to Hall C. The Hall
A, Hampton and LPSC hardware has been sorted and packed into the ISB and
Tunnel PEPPo lockers. Please let me know when you collect your stuff of
if you're missing something, which we can find; material in other
lockers and racks should not be taken unless coordinated.
3. The accelerator controls group will begin upgrading EPICS on injector
iocs after Monday, July 30th and lasting through remainder of the year.
Our two iocs (iocin9 in ISB and iocin10 in tunnel) may remain powered,
but they nor their applications may not be available.
4. The DC group may begin reclaiming the high current magnet power
supplies and control as early as August 1st.
5. The accelerator computing group will reclaim opsmdaq1 in August; we
will retain opsmdaq0 for the near future.
6. Erica and I are validating the data files on the silo and porting
analysis software from opsmdaq0 to JLAB computing for future
distribution, decoding and analysis. Erica will continue to work on the
decoder w/ Jean-Sebastien and I will be working on resource coordination
for farm processing/storage.
7. As before, please coordinate any significant requests for laboratory
resources with me.
8. In early August we will need to organize a lead unstacking day for
material loaned from Hall C (grey) and Hall A (blue), and for excess
storage. The red bricks will remain temporarily stored around the
polarimeter.
9. Penultimately, we've been solicited by this year's international
workshop on polarized positron sources/beams (POSIPOL12) for
presentations. The meeting will take place Sept 4-6 @ DESY-Zeuthen,
Germany. Our last presentation to POSIPOL was ~3 years by Eric during
the planning stages, so they are eager for an update. Erica will give a
talk on the polarimetry (e- and e+) + DAQ, and I will provide a status
update and the careful job of describingpreliminary raw results. The
meeting and program may be found here: http://www.desy.de/POSIPOL2012 .
There is no abstract required, or to circulate. We will provide our
slides in August for comment.
10. Finally, I expect we'll have some meetings over the coming month,
but will plan to get into a regular ~weekly discussion beginning
mid-September....because, there is much to do.
Joe
