Hi Joe, looks good. I think what Carlos was saying is that the existing Bates bend has a pair of dipoles on the entrance and exit before the 180 deg. bend forming a kind of dogleg. By extending the distance between them one could widen the separation compared to the old FEL.

This is what I was trying to describe, more or less, at today's meeting...we can discuss at future meetings. If there is no heart-burn, I think this would be a better way to depict our present thinking, has only slight modification. I believe it mainly keeps everything we've discussed intact, w/ exception of changing the big 180 deg bend from e+ to e- ??
Any objections (Yves, Dennis, Reza, Alicia, Sami) ?
