[PEPPo] No Ce+BAF meeting 7/5

Shielding of the conversion target seems to me to be the most important topic left untouched. I suspect, having observed the work required for PREX-II shielding, that this will be a major effort and might preclude the use of LERF entirely. Think about skyshine or in this case dose to the second floor labs, electronics and power gallery and then skyshine. While the beam power was a factor of five higher for PREX-II, the power absorbed by the target was more than an order of magnitude less. PREX-I caused boundary dose about half the lab's limit, as I recall. Tons of shielding were added for PREX-II.

An outside CE estimate of the cost of a 20 m by 70 m vault at linac depth starting at the fence by the guard shack, including cost to reroute existing underground services, should be obtained.

Subject: [PEPPo] No Ce+BAF meeting 7/5

Hi Folks,

I hope you've had a nice 4th of July weekend. I have to focus on CEBAF and restart issues this short week, so no Ce+BAF meeting on Wednesday 7/5.

Instead let's resume next week and begin/continue our discussion about our R&D plans and priorities for the next ~6 months. I'd like to expand into areas we haven't had time yet to explore, but also discuss how we evolve our start-to-end concept to be more realistic. Please give some thought to this, thanks.

Joe
