Hi Folks,
I mentioned today there was extensive study of warm RF cavities in high magnetic field for the US muon collider program. Attached is a nice summary paper. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we will not be operating CW in the gradient range they were concerned about, so we are free to use higher magnetic field in the capture cavity section if it proves useful. Incidentally the nice thermal modeling of the beam-metal interaction which gives rise to the breakdown (magnetic field focuses dark current into the wall causing damage) may be interesting for our target problem. For those new to the field there was also extensive study of high power targets for the muon collider and neutrino factory studies which can be found in the literature. They even demonstrated a free mercury jet target with high power beam at CERN. Fun times...
Bob.

Dear Colleagues,
A quick reminder that there will be no Ce+BAF meeting on June 26 (Wed., 11am), but the PWG meeting will be this Wednesday at 9am in TED-2559 and on Zoom.
Agenda: https://indico.jlab.org/event/867/
* Tim Lengler (Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon, Geesthacht, Germany) - Characterization of changes in the crystal structure for radiated positron source materials
* Jay Benesch (JLab) - Conceptual design of the capture magnet
* Shaoheng Wang (JLab) - Initial studies of capture cavities for the CW polarized positron source Ce+BAF
* August Friebolin (George Washington University) - Preliminary calculations for a two photon exchange experiment with electrons in Hall B at JLab
