Dear all,
congratulation to All for the approval of the PRad-II proposal. This is great news.
For the uRWELL upgrade, a very modest R&D plan for prototyping a medium size uRWELL detector will go a long way in dissipating all the skepticism and fears for new technology.
* uRWELL will truly represent a major upgrade relative to GEMs on many levels (lower material budget, no spacer) at a lower cost and far lower construction risk, but it is a detector that was never ran in an experiment so far and many people have reservation about it.
* If we can build a small prototype of the detector we are proposing for PRad-II that could be tested in beam test within a year, we can demonstrate that it is a low risk high reward option even compared to the GEM that worked very well for PRad
Best regards
Kondo

Hi Dipangkar,
Congratulations to All and especially to you for the approval
of the PRad-II proposal with an "A" rating. The rating itself
is saying many things!!!
For the conditions: we kind of expected this outcome, we are asking
a significant setup upgrade (~$6-7M), quite naturally they are asking
to work with the Lab and find out how. The condition is packaged as
both the micro-well GEMs and the HyCal upgrade.
I agree, we have to insist for the HyCal upgrade, that is critical
for this experiment and several others which will come later.
For the DRad: the PAC decided to not give us both, so it is still
alive. We will come to the DRad once we are very close (or done)
with the PRad-II.
