[Qcbc] [EXTERNAL] Letter on behalf of Mr. Tom Magorsch QCBC23

Dear QCBC23 organization,
  it is a pleasure to write this letter on behalf of Mr. Tom Magorsch.
  He has joined our group at the physics department of the
Technical University of Munich this  January. He has been selected
among tens of applicants for this position from all over the world.
We have selected him considering the outstanding performances demonstrated
in particle physics (maximum scores at the university, two papers already 
published) and the additional and non common fact that he had experience 
also in quantum machine learning and in quantum computing.

I believe that his expertise and background will be important for the 
objectives of his Ph. D. thesis that regards not only the study of the 
nonequilibrium evolution of quarkonium in a hot QCD medium but also the
development of quantum computing methods for application of hamiltonians 
obtained in nonrelativistic effective field theories.

I believe that Tom will be a perfect match to your school.
He  participated in the Google Summer of Code program, where he 
worked with the ML4SCI organisation on quantum machine learning 
applications to HEP tasks. There he specifically  learned common software 
packages and basics of quantum computing. Moreover he  participated in an 
open hackathon by NERSC and  NVIDIA where he collaborated with engineers 
from NVIDIA on scaling quantum  simulations to multiple GPUs. Recently he 
won a first prize  in the QHack hackathon with a project on
computing the ground state energy of a beryllium molecule.

I believe that your school will be very beneficial for him and he will 
also be able to give a good contribution to it.
