Day shift yesterday was quite productive. There was a communications issue with iocjscaler4 which Nathan resolved by rebooting the crates once the current run was finished. 

Run 17359 97M events

At around 11:25 we called MCC to change the HWP to Out

Run 17360 stopped with 48M events because solenoid magnet went into controlled ramp down. Engineer on call and Eugene contacted. (1)

15:30 solenoid ramp up begins. The investigations to the cause are not clear but it is seemingly related to a software interlock.

Swing shift begins waiting for target polarisation to reach -50% before taking data.

16:30 Run 17361 begins and by 17:30 target polarisation is at -65%, smooth running.

20:30 Run 17361 ends with 98.5M events
at same time the solenoid starts another controlled ramp down (2)
20:45 Denny leaves the instructions to stop the ramp down (reset the PLC interlock and setpoint near the current value)

20:50 Ramping the solenoid back up
21:25 solenoid is back up and target begins to polarise

22:10 Run 17362 starts

Owl starts with run in progress

00:45 another controlled ramp down of solenoid (3) Engineering on call called again and same procedure follwed

01:05 Run 17363 begins

02:48 another controlled ramp down of the solenoid (4)

04:40 another controlled ramp down of the solenoid (5)

04:52 ....... (6)

Not possible to continue to run like this. Eugene advises, and I concur that, we stop running and wait for input from magnet group

08:00 Probir arrives in counting house and explains that there is a plan for the underlying issue to be fixed in December. We obviously cant wait until then. Brian is on his way to CH and they will take some time to look at data/settings. One "solution" is to go back to positive on the solenoid but that will affect our data taking plans. I will call for an RG-C meeting at 10:30 allowing Probir and Brian some time to have their discussions and to convene RG-C members.
