Summary from Saturday-Day (10/8/2022) to Sunday-Owl (10/9/2022)
General Summary:
Accelerator repair (LCW (liquid cooling water) issue) and preparation (HCO (hot checkout), beam restoration) took place during most of the last 24h. Sunday late afternoon, we recalled the standby shifts starting from the Sunday owl shift because beam was predicted by the PD to came back during mid-owl shift, and it did. Solenoid and torus were ramped up around midnight. After the beam quality was verified with Harp scans, a Moller run was performed giving about 87% beam polarization. Then beam was sent to the Faraday Cup, positions were checked, detectors turned on, and data taking started around 6:50am (PRO66_PIN configuration for the first run). Raster histograms show that the beam is away from the target cell wall, as it should.
Status: NH3 target is polarized at: +78% according to NMR. BHWP: IN. Beam charge asymmetry is about 0.1% (Moller)
Events accumulated:
20M as of 7:30am
Plan:
- Take production runs with normal PROD66 configuration. 8nA. The duration for each run is 4 hours OR 100 M events.
- Monitor the beam charge asymmetry on MyaViewer: work at the injector should have reduced it considerably.
- Continue data taking with BHWP IN until 7am Monday Oct. 10th (unless significant there are significant beam down times, i.e. beam efficiency is much lower than 50%) then ask MCC to change the beam HWP to OUT.
- Take production runs with BHWP OUT, starting with a 20M event run in PRO66_PIN configuration, then go to normal PROD66 configuration for the next runs.
We will have a RC meeting today at 2pm.
