Dear RG-D Fellows
Happy New Year, Everyone 🎆💐😊
We are going to skip tomorrow's meeting since folks are still coming back
slowly from vacations, and we are waiting for a convergence of a new
meeting time. Please enter your availability in the When2meet poll:

Till we meet next week, I am sharing with you the email I received from Dan
Carman about the full calibration review so you can assess various points
and see which one you can contribute/help with. That will be one of the
main topics to discuss in next week's meeting.
Best,
Lamiaa

Subject: RG-D Ready for Calibration Review at CALCOM
To: Lamiaa El Fassi <elfassi at jlab.org>
Cc: Raffaella De Vita <devita at jlab.org>
Lamiaa,
Before we officially begin the calibration of any CLAS12 dataset, we ask
the Run Group coordinators to go through a "Ready for Calibration" review
at CALCOM. The main goal of the review is to make sure that the dataset
archaeology and problems are well documented, and that a well-reasoned
schedule to complete the work with appropriate milestones has been
prepared. The charge for this review is attached.
You can see the materials presented for past Run Group calibration reviews
on the CALCOM webpage.
RG-B Spr19 - Mar. 25, 2022
RG-A Spr19 - Apr. 1, 2022
RG-K W18 - Apr. 8, 2022
RG-M - Aug. 19, 2022
RG-B F19/W20 - Nov. 18, 2022
RG-A F18 - Dec. 16, 2022
RG-C Sum22 - Jun. 23, 2023
RG-A Spr18 - Dec. 1, 2023
The review should include all of the following items:
1) Status of tracking system (DC, CVT, FMT) alignment and schedule to
complete/validate.
2) Status of beam-offset calibrations.
3) Review the calibration status of each CLAS12 subsystem based on the
final online timelines.
4) Determine how many runs need to be calibrated for each subsystem and
their applicable run ranges based
on the final online timeline assessment.
5) List of runs to be calibrated with all known issues or special
conditions that may affect the calibration.
6) A full calibration schedule to complete the RG-D effort within a 2-3
month time window with trackable
milestones defined. This schedule should follow the form for other recent
Run Group calibrations.
7) Calibration QA specifications for each subsystem.
8) List of manpower for the proposed effort, including all Run Group
leadership roles.
9) Plans for completion of hardware status assessment for each subsystem.
10) Plans for AI network training and validation for DC track
finding/denoising.
11) Plans for background merging development to compare data vs. Monte
Carlo tracking efficiency.
12) Plans for monitoring of physics reconstruction before pass-1 cooking
review.
After you have had a chance to consider the preparations for this review,
let me know if you have any questions. Given that the start of the final
RG-D calibration work is coming up soon, it would be good to schedule this
review within the next few weeks.
Regards,
Daniel
