Day 2, and still not in production - although that might change soon!

We had no beam during the rest of DAY shift, and went into SWING expecting beam recovery. However, when I spoke to the Crew Chief, I was told that Hall A had not been given permission to take beam. This was discussed further with the PD: the working theory about the drops in the PSS system was that it was to do with something in the Hall A passthrough line, so the call was made to hold beam from Hall A to try to prevent this from happening overnight. Knowing this, I let the SL's for SWING and OWL shift go home - the TO's were required to stay.

During OWL, Hunter did EPR measurements on the target, and the polarization has been recovering since then.

In the PD/RC meeting this morning, it was brought up that, despite holding beam from Hall A, the BSY PSS had still tripped. Knowing that the problem wasn't what the OPS team had thought, it was decided that - once ready - beam would be given back to Hall A. MCC called at 10:50 to let the shifters know that they would be looking to deliver beam, and beam recovery started at 11:30. As I type this, the target has been moved to the C-hole and beam position studies are ongoing.

Once we are back in production, the MCC might limit beam over the next few hours if we are sharing current with Hall C to try to limit any potential PSS drops - this needs to be checked with MCC when production is ready to see if this is still the case.

Again, I'd like to remind ALL SHIFTERS to keep me in the loop with major updates from the MCC. The current communication issues have been acknowledged, but we need to hammer the point home to really try to fix the problem.

The latest NMR has the target polarization at 37.1% (https://logbooks.jlab.org/entry/4189227).

We will have the regular RC meeting at 3:30pm in the Counting House conference room to discuss the run plan going forwards. Alternately, people can join remotely via:
