Subject: [EXTERNAL] Weekly update

The project had a productive conference call with our sponsors this week, in which we outlined the positive July IPR and ICE review outcomes, described our plans to wrap up the IPR pre-CD-2/3 recommendation responses by mid-August, and explained that our project schedule requires ESAAB approval in mid-October. Following the call, BES has initiated the process to schedule an ESAAB meeting for PPU CD-2/3 approval. We will be working with BES and OPA to produce a signed PEP and other required material for ESAAB.

In the superconducting RF area, JLab has awarded 77 contracts for CD-3b scope, 50 of which are complete. Some examples are delivery of heat exchangers, delivery of the cryomodule shipping frame, and receipt of the cryomodule end can supports. In the RF area preparations for loaning equipment to a vendor (Alpha-Omega) for factory acceptance tests of a high voltage convertor modulator were initiated and we received 3-D models of the 3 MW klystron design from the vendor (CPI). In the ring area, the fast-current transformers were received from the Swiss vendor, and plans are for installation in the beamline next week, at the end of this maintenance outage. In the target system process area, piping calculations were completed and indicate acceptable stress levels. Also the ortho-para ratio measurement system sapphire window cryogenic thermal cycle testing has now completed 7 testing thermal cycles. In the conventional facility area, the HVAC unit and vibration isolation unit were received, and the subcontractor BIM model was completed by the vendor.

Thanks, as usual for the continuous progress and for setting the stage to initiate scheduling of an ESAAB approval for CD-2/3.

Stay safe, and have a great weekend - jg
