Subject: [EXTERNAL] Weekly update

This week the project office processed a number of change requests, including one which synchronizes the PPU schedule with the new operations 5-year plan. This is an important step as we move towards preparing our story for the upcoming reviews. Also, procurement awards are moving forward including a $4.5 M purchase of the remaining klystrons for the superconducting RF buildout. In the RF area, JLab is concentrating on understanding the cause for rework of He vessel jacketed cavities. A new jacketing procedure with additional precautions is being used, and the initial indication from testing is promising. In the RF area the main focus is on vendor deliveries. In the transmitter manufacture the vendor is stuffing the racks, and 2 of the 3 tank weldments are complete. Also the new warm linac DTL modulator prototype was run at full duty factor and at full voltage this week in the RF annex building. In the Ring area, the Beam Power Limiting System reconvened the PDR review committee for a short update on responses to their recent recommendations, which were well received. The installation of the new injection dump imaging system window was moved from the fall outage to next spring to accommodate availability of remote handlers. In the Target area, the test target 1 shroud weld repair is complete with a final inspection ongoing, and a final design review was held for the new gas supply hardware in the service bay. Finally in the klystron gallery, installation of the last high voltage cable for the new modulators is ongoing, and the target building basement electrical upgrades have started.

Memorial day weekend is here, enjoy the long weekend! - jg
