Subject: [EXTERNAL] PPU update


This week PPU conducted a procurement readiness review for target systems gas recirculation and molecular sieve bed upgrades. In the superconducting RF area, the first cryomodule is close to completion, with a cold test planned at JLab in about 3 weeks. Cavity strings are now also assembled for cryomodules 2-4 (string 4 is being leak checked). In the RF area, two of the three new high power electrical transformers were delivered and placed on the new outdoor pads.  Also, the new vendor for the new DTL klystron verified the x-ray emission can be suitably shielded with additional lead, which was the remaining acceptance criteria. In the ring area the secondary foil changer final design was held this week, and vacuum chambers for injection region magnets are out for bid. The final design review for the beam power limiting system is scheduled for Feb. 8 and this is the last remaining significant final design activity for PPU. In the target area utility and mercury off gas system upgrades implemented in the recent outage are being used in operation.
