Still working on simulation
- most event have 2 PMT, peaks around 3 to 4
- check efficiency on sum of 9
- still need to evaluation of background :
contacted Maurizio for improving physics list ( Maurizio out of town )

--only old background processes which work with optical
- still need to check base design ( if active might add electronics noise )
still need to be defined
-checking background from GEMC at Cerenkov window is consistant with Zhiwen
and Seamus

iron of inner solenoid shields most of beamline background, most background
from target
baffles used are baffles 3.9 , latest from svn. Need to get the latest one
from Zhiwen
0 width vertex, odd source of electron, all electrons going in 4th gem and
in GEM, all momenta
space filled with air

electron background produced in GEM
Odd source in last baffle to be investigated
Paul find informative to generate r vs vz plots and 2D plot
though one needs to turn on storage of vertex information
Zhiwen will send last version of baffles
Conlusion :
As before, photons and electrons are localized at
well separated positions in 4th GEM
•Much poorer separation at 2nd GEM
• Isotropic photon background is small, and can
probably be reduced further

GEM : photon conversion discrepancy with SBS Zhiwen is looking into that

-Discussed with electronics group for selective FADC readout
-Upgrade event type to send FADC to be read out, need to develop FADC
readout
-Assuming 2 clusters per event this drops data rate to around 60 MB/s per
sector : only need one crate
-Cost down to around 3.5 M$ including spares
-Need to evaluate cost of L3
--assuming one sector is twice faster than Hall D gives a price of 1.8 M$
with tracking and 0.61 M$ without tracking for 20 KHz trigger rate. Cost
scales with rates so up to 5.4 M$ for 60 KHz with tracking. Most likely go
without tracking and rates with Cerenkov will be reduced
--need to evaluate strategy and speed of algorithm
