Hi Zhihong:

We already had a meeting with the detector group yesterday and we will have another one today.

Subject: [Solid_ec] MaPMT Pre-Amp

The JLab detector group has two designs of the MaPMT pre-amps. I had a
look at Wenze Xi's design, which combines the 64 channels into 8(x) x
8(y) array outputs. These 16 output channels are amplified and read out
by a 16-pin ribbin cable, and a sum-signal of all these channels is also
available for other purpose, like triggering. Wenze told me that in
2006, to build such a pre-amps cost him $500. It might be cheaper now.

The detector group is willing to help us to design the pre-amp based on
what we need, like working in the low-gain. Drew Weisenberger said we
can schedule a meeting with their experts to discuss about the pre-amp.
They also have many experiences on H8500 and other MaPMTs.

I was told Xiaochao will contact with the detector group so I am just
passing this info to Xiaochao.
