> Abstract:
> The Mellin moments of Generalized Parton Distributions (GPDs) connect to quantities that describe the QCD energy momentum tensor. They allow us to single out the separate contributions from quarks and gluons. Partonic orbital angular momentum (OAM) plays a key role in our understanding of the long standing proton spin puzzle. Our recent work demonstrates the connection between quark gluon interactions described by twist three GPDs and intrinsic kT relevant for describing OAM. Similar to the spin, numerous questions remain unanswered about the hadron mass. The QCD trace anomaly is crucial for understanding its origin. Although the total energy momentum tensor is a conserved quantity, the separate contributions from quarks and gluons are not. By studying the correct connection of the trace anomaly to the quark and gluon gravitational form factors, we can estimate the size of these contributions and even connect to experimental observables. The detection of gravitational waves from merging neutron star events has opened a new window to study their properties. The pressure and energy density distribution inside the neutron star in the high baryon density regime can be obtained by calculating the matrix elements of the QCD EMT and we show how this provides a completely new way to obtain the equation of state in this regime.
Thank you.
