Will discuss “New Framework for the Analysis of Dihadron Fragmentation”
Abstract:
Dihadron fragmentation functions (DiFFs), where two hadrons are detected from the same parton-initiated jet, have been of interest since the late 1970s. In recent decades, the focus has been on observables sensitive to the relative transverse momentum of the two hadrons. Particular attention has been given to extracting transversity in twist-2 collinear factorization through such dihadron observables and computing the nucleon tensor charges. In this talk, I will report on new developments in the theory and phenomenology of DiFFs. This includes a new quantum field-theoretic definition that has a number density interpretation, justified by the derivation of certain sum rules; evolution equations for the so-called “extended” DiFFs that directly enter observables; and the first QCD global analysis of dihadron measurements that simultaneously extracts DiFFs and transversity. For the latter topic, I will discuss the compatibility with the TMD/collinear twist-3 approach to accessing transversity as well as lattice QCD computations of the nucleon tensor charges
See you later,
Caroline, Joe and Patrick.
