Dear all,
On Monday, March 3rd, 2025 at 9:00AM EST, we will have a virtual seminar given by Joshua Crawford of University of Adelaide on the following Zoom link:
https://jlab-org.zoomgov.com/j/1617664990?pwd=Z1jAp9f2THvbRck8V59xJqOZquLZHu.1
Although it’s not an in-person seminar, you can also join your colleagues for a remote streaming of the seminar in CEBAF Center F326/327.
Please see below for the title and abstract.
Theory Seminar: March 3rd, 9pm EST (virtual)
Speaker: Joshua Crawford (University of Adelaide)
Title: Revealing the transverse distribution of forces in the proton with lattice QCD
Abstract: Asymmetries observed in deep-inelastic scattering experiments offer important insights into the structure and dynamics within the proton. The Sivers asymmetry provides information about the transverse momentum of the struck quark and can be related to final state interactions. We present a lattice QCD calculation of the spatial distribution of a colour-Lorentz force which acts on the struck quark. We determine a spin-independent confining force and a spin-dependent force distribution with local forces larger than the QCD string tension. These force distributions offer a new, complimentary perspective on the Sivers asymmetry in transversely polarised deep-inelastic scattering.
See you on Monday.
Best regards,
Joe, Zheng-Yang, and Gloria
