Earlier this year a regional power failure and ensuing events caused
confusion concerning the building evacuation procedure at Jefferson
Lab. Most individuals will work their entire careers and never
experience a fire emergency. However, if you see fire or smoke in a
building, please activate a fire alarm box on your way out of the
building. Activate the alarm by pulling the lever/bar on the manual pull
station located next to the exterior doors of all JLab building.
Once outside, please head toward that building's assigned Muster Point.
Muster Points for each building is located on Emergency Evacuation Floor
Plan maps found throughout each building.
Activating the Fire Alarm pull box will immediately alert several JLab
responders to investigate and will simultaneously move the buildings
occupants outdoors and away from the fire and smoke.
Please contact Dave Kausch, JLab's Fire Protection engineer, with any
questions at, email kausch at jlab.org

or call ext. 7674. For more information about JLab's Fire Protection
Program, please visit Chapter 6900 of the ES&H Manual at:
http://www.jlab.org/ehs/ehsmanual/6900.htm.
JLab sponsors and supervisors are asked to make sure that your
extended-stay visitors, summer program participants and new employees
know the locations of fire alarm pull boxes, exits and muster points for
the buildings they will be working in.
