Colleagues,
Anthem Insurance recently notified Jefferson Lab that as of April 1,
2012, network and design changes will occur with the Lab's current
medical insurance products. Anthem is in the process of streamlining
their plan options to better manage cost and complexity. These changes
were mandated by Anthem and are unrelated to the Benefits Cost Study
measure that Mont discussed in November.
As a result of Anthem's realignment efforts, _listed below are some
important changes affecting BlueCare Indemnity, KeyCare PPO 15, and
HealthKeepers HMO medical benefits._ The newly offered medical plans
are comparable to your current elections; however, you should carefully
review the information to know how your benefits are changing if
enrolled with Anthem or are considering Anthem as your health insurance
provider.
*
*KeyCare PPO 15 medical plan* will be replaced with Anthem's Key*
*Care PPO 10 medical plan. The KeyCare PPO 10 plan closely
resembles the current PPO selection that is available today*. All
KeyCare PPO 15 participants will automatically default to the
KeyCare PPO 10 medical plan effective April 1, 2012. *You will
have the option to go into the Employee Self Service system during
open enrollment to change your elections if you choose.* *
*
*BlueCare Indemnity medical plan* will be discontinued as a
product offered by Anthem effective March 31, 2012. The robust
network that Blue Care once offered to its members is no longer
applicable because the KeyCare PPO network has become as
inclusive*. All BlueCare Indemnity members will automatically
default to the KeyCare PPO 10 medical plan effective April 1,
2012. *You will have the option to go into the Employee Self
Service system during open enrollment to change your elections if
you choose.* *
*
*Healthkeepers HMO medical plan* will be eliminated and replaced
with a Point of Service (POS) medical plan. The POS plan will
offer an out-of-network feature that is currently not an option
provided by the Healthkeepers HMO plan.* All HealthKeepers HMO
members will automatically default to the HealthKeepers POS
medical plan effective April 1, 2012*. You will have the option to
go into the Employee Self Service system during open enrollment to
change your elections if you choose.
For those enrolled in Optima, medical insurance plan offerings will not
change. You will continue to automatically default to your current
elections in the Optima Plan. During open enrollment you will have the
option to go into the Employee Self Service system to change elections
if you choose.
*Open enrollment will be February 14-29, 2012.* Additional information
sessions will be scheduled to assist with inquiries. Anthem
Representatives will also be on-site during some of the information
sessions to answer questions.
Open enrollment materials will be available online starting February 14,
2012. This material will provide details about the Anthem plan
modifications to better educate you on the rates and plan design
differences that will result from Anthem's restructuring efforts.
*Note:* If you want to change plans, add/remove dependents, drop
medical coverage or enroll in the Medical Flexible Spending Account, you
MUST enter the Employee Self Service Open Enrollment system and complete
the appropriate steps.
As always, we are committed to providing comprehensive and competitive
benefits as well as communicating any changes impacting your benefit
selections.
