January 9 Briefs Excerpts:
CNI Maintenance Period Set for Tuesday, Jan. 15
The CNI group is planning a maintenance period for 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 15. During this time, several web servers will undergo a configuration update. This update should be transparent, but there may be intermittent outages. All web server updates will be complete by 7 p.m. Also, the group will be releasing Windows and Linux patches to JLab desktops. Plan on rebooting your desktop on Wednesday or Thursday to finalize the patch installation.
JLab ISDN Video Conferencing Is Changing
The lab's legacy ISDN (phone-based) video conferencing system will be discontinued on July 1 as part of the phone system upgrade. This affects only video conferences set up over ISDN phone lines; it has no effect on video conferences over the network. If you have ISDN video requirements beyond this date, contact the IT Division Helpdesk at x7155 for assistance in transitioning to a newer system.
Radiation Worker Classes Offered Soon
The next full day Radiation Worker I class will be offered 9 a.m.-5 p.m. on Jan. 15. The next half-day Radiation Worker II class will be offered 9 a.m.-12 p.m. on Jan. 22. Sign up through the Learning Management System on the website or by contacting Maya Keller, x6021.
Reminder: Long Shutdown Safety Meeting and Vendor Fair
All lab employees are required to attend one of the four, brief Project Update and Safety Meeting sessions that will be given in the CEBAF Center auditorium on Thursday, Jan. 10. In addition, there will be a Long Shutdown/12 GeV Upgrade project poster session and vendor fair in the CEBAF Center lobby and Room F113; Refreshments will be provided. For more information, see the announcement: https://www.jlab.org/memo/2013_lsd_safety_mtg.html
Reminder: General Access RWP Available for Signature
If you have a radiation badge and have not yet done so, be sure to review and sign the General Access RWP as soon as possible; the deadline was Dec. 31. SOTRs are asked to remind their vendors/subcontractors who have Radiation Worker training of this requirement. If you have any questions regarding the RWP, contact Becky Mosbrucker, x7236.
Tracking Thomas at JLab
Congratulations this week go to Will Phelps, who was the first to correctly identify the location for Dec. 19. Honorable mentions go to Marcy Stutzman, Anna Shabalina, Dave Kashy and Kelly Tremblay. Check out the Tracking Thomas webpage for a better view of his last location and this week's new mystery photo and email Kandice Carter if you think you know where he is: http://wwwold.jlab.org/news/briefs/trackingthomas.html
