Dear Colleagues,
The 2013 National Nuclear Physics Summer School (NNPSS) organized by
Brookhaven National Laboratory
and Stony Brook University will be held July 15 - July 26,2013 at Stony
Brook University in Stony Brook,
New York. We invite graduate students and postdocs, within a few years
of their PhD, with a strong interest in
experimental and theoretical nuclear physics, to apply to the school.
Lectures at the school will be
pedagogical reviews of both theoretical and experimental nuclear physics
research programs and will cover
a broad range of topics including perturbative and non-perturbative QCD,
hadron structure and spin physics,
heavy ion physics, nuclear structure and reactions, nuclear
astrophysics, fundamental symmetries and
neutrinos. The school will consist of ten days of lectures, special
topics seminars and discussions, a trip to
Brookhaven National Laboratory and a number of social activities. It is
an excellent opportunity for future
researchers to get a broad perspective on current research in the field
of nuclear physics. The school is also
a useful venue for them to interact closely in person with the lecturers
and other students from diverse
backgrounds.
Program details are available on the school web
site:http://www.int.washington.edu/NNPSS/2013.
Applications can be submitted on-line at:
http://www.int.washington.edu/NNPSS/2013/APPLICATION.html
The deadline for applications and reference letters is *April 15, 2013*.
The school can accommodate 50 applicants. For accepted applicants the
school will cover most of the local
expenses. Participants will be responsible for their own travel costs
and extracurricular expenses.
Inquiries should be sent to: anne at bnl.gov.
We kindly ask you to forward this message to interested students and
postdocs so thatthey can take advantage of this opportunity.
Best Regards,
The organizing committee:
Abhay Deshpande, Joanna Kiryluk, Peter Petreczky, Anne Sickles, Paul
Sorensen, Derek Teaney, Raju Venugopalan
and Michael Zingale.
The 2013 NNPSS is sponsored by Brookhaven National Laboratory, Institute
for Nuclear Theory, the National
Science Foundation, the RIKEN-BNL Research Center andStony Brook University
